Eight manufacturers and programme partners we've reported on, with what's actually confirmed about each — not a marketing roster.

EHang
Holds the world's first type certificate for a pilotless, human-carrying eVTOL (CAAC). Flown in 23 countries by Aug 2026; leading the "Global Fast Track Programme" that Sri Lanka and Hong Kong have both taken up.

Joby Aviation
Furthest along in FAA certification of any US manufacturer, with ~$800m cash on hand, but still well short of a type certificate — Stage 4 testing was only 15% complete as of May 2026.

Archer Aviation
Commercial Midnight eVTOL (4 passengers, ~100-mile range) now also being adapted for military use with Korean Air; separately targeting Dubai as an early commercial market.

Vertical Aerospace
Has flown a full two-way transition flight, but certification has slipped twice — now targeting 2028 — amid a chairman departure and a withheld funding tranche.

Volant Aerotech
Heavy-lift cargo eVTOL (2.5t MTOW, 500kg payload, 400km range), currently in crewed flight testing. Raised a $300m+ Series C from UAE firm Stone Venture, targeting 2027 certification.

Supernal
Cut roughly 80% of its workforce in March 2026 after a leadership change paused flight testing, then signed a joint-development MOU with Korea Aerospace Industries in May 2026 to rebuild the programme.

Korean Air
Leading local modification and military systems integration on Archer's militarised Midnight variant, aimed at troop transport, medevac and resupply for the South Korean armed forces.

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI)
Joined Supernal's S-A2 programme in May 2026 under an MOU covering aircraft development expertise, supply chains and certification — brought in after Supernal's own engineering headcount was cut sharply.
